Today, Monday, the Central Office of Judicial Research, affiliated with the General Directorate of Surveillance of National Territories in Morocco, succeeded in dismantling a terrorist cell made up of three elements loyal to ISIS, aged 26 to 28 and active in the towns of Inezgane and Ait Melloul, as part of the efforts. The office continued to deal with terrorist threats to the security and safety of the Kingdom, according to the Moroccan news agency.
The office said in a statement that initial research and investigations confirmed that the head of this cell and his associates had declared their oath of allegiance to the alleged caliph of ISIS, before they planned to conduct terrorist operations aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The same source added that the search and trace procedures indicated that members of this terrorist cell were looking for firearms, equipment and preparations used in the manufacture of the IEDs, alongside their praise of the terrorist operations of ‘Islamic State’ in a number of foreign countries.
This operation resulted, according to the report, in the seizure of large and medium-sized bladed weapons, in addition to electronic devices and extremist manuscripts.
The press release recalled that this security operation is part of a context marked by growing terrorist threats to the security of the Kingdom and the persistence of those who have been absorbed by extremist ideology to serve the subversive agenda of various terrorist organizations.
According to the same report, the suspects were placed under the measure of pre-trial detention, in order to deepen the search with them, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor, pending their presentation to justice at the end of the search procedures.
